Before Epal
My name is Kalina. I’m 23 years old and from South Africa. Growing up I was always fascinated with the esoteric world, and anything to do with spirits or the afterlife. I used to watch many tarot readers on TV, and I still do today. I loved seeing how someone could give you an accurate reading, without having to know you personally.
I bought my first tarot deck in 2021, I started to study the cards and at a later stage gave tarot readings to friends and family. Tarot is a coronation of many things like intuition, channeling, knowledge of the cards and symbolism.
South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. And in August 2024, I lost my job. Finding decent work in my country is really tough, so I decided to pursue tarot as a full time job. I took the leap and moved my business online. I started doing 2 hour live sessions on TikTok and also been to local markets, and I’ve had the privilege to give over 3000 readings.

One day I was streaming on Twitch, and a lady asked for a reading. She was amazed at how accuratemy my reading was. And that’s when she referred and told me about Epal, I was very interested. It was the first time I have heard of a gaming and companionship platform. Curiosity got the better of me, so I signed up right away in January 2025. It’s almost been a year since I’ve been on Epal!
Maybe some of you are wondering why I go by the nickname “NightLightTarot”. In 2020, my granny was very sick, and I stayed by her side to take care of her until the very end. Before she passed away, she told me I was going to do something good, something I’d never expect to be doing. She used to call me her “night light”. That’s why I am called NightLight.
I have always felt a deep connection to the idea of shedding light on people’s lives, helping them navigate through darkness. Tarot, for me, has been a tool that not only helped me with personal growth but also allows me to be that guiding light for others.

I’m grateful for the people I have crossed paths with. Some people just need a shoulder to cry on, or someone to listen to. I’ve been able to help a lot of people but they end up helping me in return.
Epal has become a platform of growth and expanding into a lot of opportunities, I am now an official host. I started out very small not making that much to now feeling like I’m getting recognised. Epal has really helped me financially, I’ve been able to buy my new phone and also pay for lessons with the money I made off Epal. It’s also one of the only incomes I have at this stage, so I’m really hoping to keep climbing the ladder from here. For the first time in a while, I truly feel like I’m getting somewhere in life.
I believe there is a profound beauty to be found in spirituality, and I’m here to share and guide. Let me be the light that walks with you through the dark.
