Before E-Pal
My name is Evee and I’m a 23-year-old. After graduating, I made the exciting decision to move to the sunny state of California, in pursuit of a more vibrant and fulfilling life. While I was there, I also decided to enroll in college courses, as I was still figuring out my long-term career path and what I truly wanted to do with my future.
Shortly after my move, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, turning my world upside down. I lost my job, and like many others, I had to adapt to asynchronous online courses. Financially, I was in a tight spot, struggling to cover the costs of both my education and the relatively high cost of living in California.
During the forced quarantine period, my love for gaming flourished. I found myself spending the majority of my days immersed in the virtual worlds of various games. As I delved deeper into gaming, I discovered a new passion for streaming. Almost every day of the week, I would go live on Twitch, sometimes for as little as 1 hour and other times for up to 12 hours. Slowly but surely, I began to build a community around my streams, and new friendships started to form. These connections were not only a source of entertainment but also a support system during those challenging times.

One of my newfound friends introduced me to something that would change the course of my life. They showed me a video of a streamer using “egirl.gg” to hire people to play games with them. I was completely taken aback. I had no idea that such a platform even existed, where people could make money simply by playing games with others. It seemed like the perfect fit for me, something that aligned with my interests and my current situation.
My friend dared me to create an account on the platform, and without hesitation, I did. In the first week, I was pleasantly surprised by how well things went. Since the site was relatively new at the time and had gained a lot of popularity due to content creators making viral videos about it, there was a high demand for its services. I started to earn some money, which was a huge relief given my financial struggles.
As time went on, the platform underwent a name change. “egirl.gg” became “epal.gg”. Around this time, I worked hard and managed to climb the ranks on E-Pal. And then, an incredible opportunity presented itself. I was given the chance to work for E-Pal at TwitchCon 2022 in San Diego. I worked there for all three days of the event, and it was hands down the most fun I’ve ever had. It was an amazing experience that opened my eyes to the possibilities within the gaming and esports industry.

Since then, E-Pal has continued to play a significant role in my life. It has provided me with numerous opportunities to network with other gamers, streamers, and industry professionals. Through the platform, I’ve been able to grow my community on Twitch even further. It has also been a reliable source of income for me during the times when I’ve been between jobs.
E-Pal has not only helped me financially but has also been instrumental in helping me figure out my future career path. It has made me realize that I want to work in the esports industry or become a full-time content creator on Twitch. At one point, I even created a GameChangers Valorant team for my school, which was a great achievement.
I’m truly grateful for E-Pal. It has been there for me when I needed a side hustle, and it has led me to a career path that makes me genuinely happy. I hope that E-Pal continues to grow and thrive, bringing together more people in the gaming community and providing even more opportunities for gamers like me. It has truly transformed my life, and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me in the future.
